Description of this private hiking tour

To begin with, we will drive on paved roads from Reykjavík to the stunning waterfall of Gullfoss. The Golden Circle, the most popular touristic itinerary in Iceland is named after this waterfall, as Gullfoss means “The Golden Waterfall”.

There, we will also seize the opportunity to get some refreshments, and eventually grab some snacks for the rest of our adventure.

We are now heading straight to the rugged desert landscapes of the Icelandic Highlands. We will make good use of our modified LandCruiser to cruise on the dusty mountain “Kjalvegur” road.

After just a few potholes, we will reach our destination: The mountains of Kerlingarfjöll. And it is time for us to begin our hike.

The whole hike is about 14km long. The terrain is not particularly difficult, and never exposed. Although one can expect a lot of ups and downs. Sportive people and experienced hikers will find this hike of moderate difficulty. Less experienced hikers may find it challenging.

At the end of the day, you will have the option, should you wish to, to enjoy and take a dip in the hotel hot springs (extra)
