In the summer, the most beautiful region of Iceland opens: The Highlands. A vast, untouched desert almost as big as the country itself.
And area less traveled and less visited, the paradise for hikers from all over the world, but not only. As we engage on the dirt roads of the interior in our special vehicle, the landscape changes, traces of civilization vanish, and only the wind can be heard.
Unbridged rivers, rocky and sandy roads are making the highlands difficult to access. But our LandCruiser lifted on 33inch tires will take you anywhere.
The Landmannalaugar
We will drive on the rough and rugged terrain of the Icelandic Highlands. Sandy roads and river crossings are definitely on the program of our adventure.
Once we will have reached the Landmannalaugar, we will go hiking in one of the most beautiful places in Iceland.
Some sightseeing stops on the way are also scheduled.
Thórsmörk
Þórsmörk is a lush valley, with a thriving, diversified flora, like nowhere else in Iceland.
When hiking up the mountains, you get access to amazing panoramas over the valleys, with two glaciers in the background: Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull.
Vikings and Waterfalls
We are heading to the edge of the HighLands. A journey in the Þjórsárdalur valley to discover less traveled waterfalls, and learn about Viking history.
At the end of the day, we will have dinner in a Viking-themed restaurant. The food is locally sourced and absolutely delicious.
