In our humble opinion, private tours are the best way to discover Iceland. Using the services of an expert driver is safe and stress-free, especially in winter, and you still get to decide what to do and where to go.
This page is actually about deciding where to go. As a day tour, there are basically four options, which are detailed below.
Our Golden Circle private tours are being operated all year long. The Golden Circle is the most famous tourist itinerary and for plenty of reasons. Besides offering various landscapes and breathtaking sites, it is a very interesting place to visit. With plenty of history and many unique geological features, your guide will not fall short of stories.
Golden Circle essentials
A version of the Golden Circle tour that fits in half a day. Ideal if you are on a schedule, or on a cruise boat.
This tour focuses on the three main attractions: The National Park of Thingvellir (Þingvellir), The geyser of Strokkur and the Waterfall of Gullfoss.
Golden Circle and farm visits
Our Golden Circle Essentials with some nice additions.
This tour is equally a sightseeing tour and a culinary tour. Besides visiting the main sites of the Golden Circle: Thingvellir (Þingvellir), Gullfoss and Geysir, we will visit two farms.
A dairy farm, where we will taste what probably is the best ice cream in Iceland, and a tomato farm where we will learn about how we grow tomatoes in an arctic climate.
Golden Circle and Northern Lights
You will start your day with a farm lunch in a greenhouse. This is a delightful stop where you will hear the story of Icelandic Tomatoes.
You will then visit the sites of Thingvellir (Þingvellir), Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir.
After the sun has set, we will drive away from the city lights, towards cloudless skies.
And hopefully, lady Aurora will come to us.
The south coast of Iceland is by all means one of the most beautiful regions of Iceland. A land of glaciers and volcanoes, waterfalls, black sand beaches, and abundant bird life.
A journey to the South Coast will make you fall in love with Iceland. And if you feel like it, do not hesitate to try a Glacier Hike as well!
The South Coast of Iceland
Black sand beaches, glaciers, waterfalls, sheer cliffs and more … The South Coast has it all.
Come with us to discover this wonderful area, its stories, and its stunningly beautiful sites,
You can also try our South Coast and Glacier Hike tour.
The Westman Islands
Stories of volcanoes and discoveries of natural wonders is what this tour is about.
The Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) sit on an active volcanic system. Its last two eruptions: 1973 and 1963 both have fascinating stories.
The Westman Islands also are, in the summer, the home of the biggest colony of puffins in the world.
South Coast and Glacier Hike
A comprehensive discovery of the South Coast of Iceland.
Besides visiting the most remarkable highlights of the area, with gorgeous waterfalls and a black sand beach that was a Game Of Thrones filming location, we will hike on a glacier.
You will be properly geared up by our guide, who will take you safely on the glacier, and back!
Glacier Hike on Sólheimajökull
The glacier of Sólheimajökull is only 2,5 hours away from ReykjavÃk. It makes it the perfect glacier for a day trip from the capital, or on your way on the South Coast if you are traveling by your own means.
The hike on this glacier partly covered with volcanic ashes offers breathtaking views on the lake below and hidden waterfalls.
South Coast and Northern Lights
The winter landscapes of the Icelandic South Coast are unreal. Tall, powerful, waterfalls almost completely frozen. Glaciers nearly entirely blue. And beaches are mostly covered with snow.
It is in this setting that, after nightfall, we will search for the magic of the Northern Lights.
The West of Iceland is full of wonders. It mostly consists of two different peninsulas: The peninsula of Snæfellsnes and the Peninsula of Reykjanes.
Both of them offer a display of volcanic landscapes, but Reykjanes is much younger and appears much more rugged. Although, it does not take anything to its beauty.
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula
A tiny strip of Iceland that encompasses all the different kinds of landscapes that can be found in Iceland.
This peninsula, “Iceland in miniature”, as it is often called, has waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes, lakes, mountains, lava fields, and more.
A beautiful journey, that will forever stay in your mind.
The Colors of Reykjanes
The Reykjanes peninsula is only 30-45 minutes away from ReykjavÃk. Its unique and rough landscapes will leave any visitor speechless.
Reykjanes is one of those places that look extremely inhospitable, yet it is stunningly beautiful.
The very last volcanic eruptions of Iceland occurred on this peninsula, and we are expecting more in the years to come.
Volcano Hike
In 2021, the Fagradalsfjall volcano woke up after being asleep for 6-7000 years. That eruption lasted for about 6 months.
In 2022, it happened again and lasted 3 weeks. Same thing in 2023, for 4 weeks this time.
When will be the next one?
This wonderful 20 km hike will bring you towards the sites of those three eruptions.
Reykjanes and Volcano Hike
A long and comprehensive tour for an in-depth discovery of the peninsula of Reykjanes and its volcanic secrets.
Discover how the peninsula is torn between the American and European continental plates, and how it affects its volcanic activity.
Three eruptions occurred recently on the Reykjanes peninsula. We will hike towards the locations of these eruptions. Another eruption is looming as we are writing those lines.
