Northern Lights hunt, how does it work?
If you come to Iceland in the wintertime, for sure, you will want to see the Northern Lights. Maybe, the most beautiful thing that can be seen in nature.
To see the Northern Lights, you will need two things: To be patient and to be Lucky. The luckier you are, the less patient you will need to be!
Northern Lights are only visible when the sky is clear and there is no cloud cover. Basically, if you can see the stars, you can see the Northern Lights. If they happen! And this is when luck and patience come into play. Even with the best conditions, eventually, all you have to do is to wait and gaze at the sky!
Description of the tour
Our professional guides will look up weather forecasts to determine in which area our chances are the best. We will also always do our best to take you away from all the other tours in big buses. Although, roads and weather conditions in the winter can limit the choice of location that your guide will have.
You can easily combine our Northern Light Tour with any of our other private sightseeing tours in Iceland.
- Your guide will pick you up at your hotel at a pre-agreed time
- He will drive you to a location of his choice, far away from the city lights.
- Once he has found a suitable spot, it’s waiting time!
- Hopefully, Northern Lights will show up and you will have a spectacular show
- Your guide will take pictures for you.
- You will be driven back to your hotel.

What to know before you go and bring with you
What you need to know:
Northern Lights are an amazing experience and the most beautiful phenomenon. But Auroras are some kind of divas, they like to make themselves be desired. Therefore, one must be prepared to wait for them in the dark, and cold arctic night.
This is a seasonal tour, only operated from September to April
What to take with you
We will serve you hot drinks to help to keep you warm, but we highly recommend that you also prepare yourself
- Proper footwear with warm socks.
- Warm clothes, and possibly windproof
- Beanie, gloves etc …
Weather conditions and cancellation
We will only operate the tour when the cloud cover forecasts are excellent. Never if they are average or unsure
We will provide a refund or a rebook if despise good forecasts, it turns out that cloud cover was 100% and we never found clear skies.
