Discover the Reykjanes and the Snæfellsnes Peninsulas
Our suggestion for private tours in West Iceland
Our private tours in West Iceland give you the opportunity to visit two peninsulas: The peninsula of Reykjanes and the peninsula of Snæfellsnes. They are very different, yet equally beautiful.
Reykjanes is the youngest part of Iceland, a vast volcanic land, with moon-like landscapes and hot springs bubbling and smoking everywhere. This is where the last three volcanic eruptions in Iceland happened.
Snæfellsnes is also a volcanic peninsula, with a stratovolcano at the tip of it: Snæfellsjökull. This is the volcano from the story of Jules Verne’s “journey to the center of the earth”. Snæfellsnes is a mystical place, full of stories, legends, and breathtaking landscapes.
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Pointing Westwards is the peninsula of Snæfellsnes. A long strip of land on which the visitor will find most of the Icelandic wonders.
Glaciers and volcanoes and waterfalls and lava fields and more … This is called “Iceland in miniature”.
A beautiful showroom of the amazing Icelandic nature
The Colors of Reykjanes
Less than an hour away from Reykjavík, is the peninsula of Reykjanes.
A broad display of volcanic landscapes, moon-like open lava fields and bubbling hot springs.
Reykjanes is located right onto the divide between two tectonic plates and several volcanic systems. One of them erupted recently, in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Volcano Hike
When Fagradalsfjall woke up and erupted in 2021 for a period that lasted 6 months, everybody ran to the Volcano to see it.
Little did we know that it would happen again in 2022, and again in 2023. But it made no difference, everytime, people ran to see this absolutely beautiful force of nature.
Even now that the eruptions are over, it is still a beautiful spectacle. The hike is about 20 km return and offer great views on the surroundings valleys, smoking hot lava fields, and newly formed craters.
