On this land, you can find waterfalls, glaciers, black sand beaches, volcanoes, lakes, fjords … all the different types of landscapes that one can find in Iceland.
On this tour, we will try to add the Northern Lights to that list, making this day as magical as possible.
Discovering the Snæfellsnes peninsula
Our tour of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula includes all the highlights of the region: The Kirkjufell mountain, the village of Arnarstapi, and the black sand beach of Djúpalónssandur. The peninsula offers many more natural wonders, and your guide will pick his favorite sites to also explore with you.
The Snæfellsnes peninsula is a volcanic land, which besides beautiful sites, offers the greatest sceneries of all day tours, while on the road.
Aurora Hunting
After touring the Snæfellsnes peninsula, your guide will take you on a Northern Lights Hunt. You will be headed towards the area that is, according to the weather forecasts, going to have the clearest skies.
Once there, you will gaze at a dark sky full of stars, waiting for the show to begin.
Snæfellsnes and Aurora Borealis: Program outline
- Your guide will pick you up around 10 am in the morning
- After one hour drive, you will have a break for refreshments
- The rest of the day will be dedicated to visiting the Peninsula of Snæfellsnes
- You will have dinner in a location that will be determined by your guide, depending on weather forecasts, and where is the best area to see Northern Lights.
- The Northern Light Hunt typically lasts until midnight to 1am, but this can vary with weather conditions and aurora activity.
