A short private tour to the Reykjanes peninsula and its countless wonders

The peninsula southwest of Reykjavík “Reykjanes” (The smoking peninsula) has long been famous for the Blue Lagoon above all things.

But this peninsula, very close to Reykjavík, is the land of the most colorful hot springs, volcanic landscapes and of the most recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland.

This tour to the youngest part of Iceland, is the opportunity to discover and talk longly about what makes Iceland such a special place. Every place we visit will be a reminder of the power of the earth, looming underneath our feet.

Description of your tour to Reykjanes

  • You will be picked up by your guide at the time you will have determined together
  • For half a day, you will cruise by and visit some of the most impressive sites in Iceland
  • Your guide will drive you back to your hotel approximately 6 hours after the beginning of the tour.

Visits of the Reykjanes Peninsula:

The Bridge Between Continents

As Iceland is divided by the North Atlantic ridge, separating the North American and the Eurasian tectonic plates, one bridge can make you cross between Europe and America.

This is the only bridge in the world between those two continents, and the vistas you get on the surroundings will leave you speechless.

The Hot Spring of Gunnuhver

Gunnuhver is a very powerful hot spring located on the Reykjanes Peninsula. In a colorful geothermal area, its white, thick cloud of steam is always there, visible from kilometers around.

The Fagradalsfjall Lava Field

You are going to approach some of the youngest rocks on the planet. This new, still steaming lava field, was formed in March 2021 during the first eruption of the Fagradalsfjall volcano.

The Hot Spring of Seltún

The first thing you will notice when you arrive in Seltún is the smell of sulfur, evidence of the underground activity.
The hot spring in Seltún belongs to the active volcanic system of Krýsuvík. While walking in the area, you will see an impressive display of bubbling water, fumaroles, and boiling mud pots.

Kleifarvatn Lake

A beautiful lake stands as an oasis among desolated, yet beautiful, volcanic landscapes.

We will stop by two viewpoints on the road to admire panoramas and an absolutely unique landscape.

What to know before you go and bring with you:

The weather in Iceland is famous for being capricious and unpredictable. A beautiful sunny can rapidly turn into something more … … typical! It is always important to be ready for all kind of weathers.

Therefore, we recommend that you take with you proper footwear and weatherproof clothes.

If this tour is not strenuous nor difficult, however, the visit to the lava field includes an up-and-down walk of approximately 25 minutes return. This can be cut in half to simply see the lava field, without getting right next to it.

Personalization of the tour

This tour can easily be combined with several options. One of them could be to add a hike to the sites where recent (2021, 2022 and 2023) volcanic eruptions took place. The lava fields are still steaming, the craters are magnificent and the view of the surroundings is simply breath taking.

Whether you decided on taking the hike or not, there are no better way to end the day rather than soaking in naturally hot geothermal waters. We can offer you to do so in the Blue Lagoon, or in the Sky Lagoon.
